What Is Address Verification?
Address Verification allows you to verify applicant addresses in real-time as they are entered in Next. This feature integrates with Smarty to confirm that submitted addresses are valid and deliverable within the United States.

You can add address verification to:
- Profile Forms
- Intake Forms

When Address Verification is enabled, Next:
- Validates addresses in real-time as applicants enter their information.
- Confirms address existence and deliverability within the United States.
- Suggests corrections for misspelled street names, cities, or incorrect ZIP codes.
Step-By-Step Instructions
Enable Address Verification

You can add Address Verification to both new and existing programs.
📌 Note: Address Verification can be enabled at any stage of your program lifecycle, including for applications that are already in progress.
- Logged in as the Organization Owner, click Settings.
- Select Profile Forms.
2. Select Individual or Organization.
⚠️IMPORTANT: You need to set this at both the Individual and Organization if you want it on both.
3. Click the gear icon.
4. Toggle on Address Verification Check.
5. Click Save.
6. Click Publish in the upper-right corner to make your changes live.
Access Address Verification Results
You can view applicant identity verification status at any stage of your program lifecycle.
View Results in Participant Network
- Navigate to Participant Network
- Select an individual applicant's name or the organization’s name
- Click Compliance Check in the top-right corner
- Select Address Verification Check
- Click Next
View Results During Application Review or Post-Award
- Select the applicant's hyperlinked name from intake rounds or post-award
- Click Admin Controls in the upper-right corner
- Select Compliance
- Choose Address Verification

Understand Verification Details
The system provides clear verification information:
Verification Status
- Address Verified - The address has been successfully confirmed
- Not Verified - The verification process was unsuccessful or incomplete
- Partially Verified - Some parts of the address are valid; other details need review (e.g., due to missing details, typos, missing unit number, etc.)
- Failed - After running the entered address is not found.
- Not Found - The entered address does not exist in postal records or cannot be located in the address database
Additional Information
- Date of verification - When (date and time) the identity check was completed
Address Meta Data
Included with the verification check is the Address Metadata which includes:
- Street Name and Suffix
- City Name, State Abbreviation, ZIP Code and +4 Extension
- County Name
- Congressional District
- Legislative District
- Latitude and Longitude Coordinates

Time Zone Information, including UTC Offset and Daylight Saving Time status
Applicant Address Verification Guide
How Address Verification Works
- Applicants see suggested addresses as they type, reducing errors and speeding up form completion
- Applicants can select from verified address suggestions in the dropdown menu
- Alternatively, they can manually type in their address
- If an address is invalid or incomplete, users are prompted to correct it before proceeding
Supported Countries and Territories
- At this time, only US addresses and territories are supported.
