Overview

This article covers how to access and use Analytics (Standard Reporting) in Next, including navigating dashboards, applying filters, and downloading or presenting your data.

💡As part of the Submittable Next update, we've moved to a new reporting tool that's faster and easier to use. The data you're used to seeing is still there; it's just been reorganized.

What is Analytics (Standard Reporting)?

Analytics (Standard Reporting) gives all Submittable customers access to pre-built dashboards with key data about your organization's programs and applicants. You may see this feature referred to as "Standard Reporting" or "Dashboards" in different parts of the platform — they all refer to the same thing.

  • Who has access?
    • Organization Owners: Analytics at the organization level, where they can view data across all programs.
    • Program Owners and Program Managers: Analytics at the program level, where they can view data scoped to their individual programs.

Step-By-Step Instructions

You can access Analytics from either the organization level or the program level — no additional setup is required.

Accessing Analytics (Standard Reporting) at the Organization Level

  1. Log in to Next as the Organization Owner.
  2. Click Analytics in the top menu.

You'll land on the Organization Summary dashboard.

Accessing Analytics (Standard Reporting) at the Program Level

You can also view Analytics for a specific program.

  1. Open the program you want to review.
  2. Click Analytics in the left-hand menu.

You'll see Analytics data for that individual program only.

Navigating the Organization Summary Dashboard

The Organization Summary dashboard is your home base for Analytics at the organization level. It contains all the information that was previously spread across three separate dashboards — Organization Summary, Program Activity, and Program Awards — now consolidated in one place with tabs.

Use the tabs at the top of the dashboard to switch between views:

  • Organization Summary — A quick snapshot of your organization's overall activity, including an overview of applications, reviews, awarding, progress reports, and disbursements.
  • Applications and Reviews — Shows total applications, a monthly application chart, applications broken down by program, review progress, and reviewer details.
  • Awarding — Shows how many awards have been accepted, replied to, declined, and their current status, as well as award recipient details.
  • Post Awards — Shows progress report status, amendment statuses, and amendment reasons.
  • Financials — Shows disbursements to date.
  • Compliance — Shows verification statuses including ID verification, GuideStar verification, and address verification. If your organization does not use these features, these visualizations will appear blank.

Using Filters

Filters let you narrow your Analytics view to show only the data you care about. You'll find the filter bar at the top of the dashboard.

Available filters include:

  • Date range — Set a specific time period to focus your view.
  • Program — Include or exclude specific programs.
  • Program type — Filter by program type (for example, view only your Scholarship programs).
  • Response User Name — Filter or exclude specific applicants.

To apply a filter, select it from the filter bar, make your selections, and Analytics will update automatically. Filters apply to the entire dashboard while they're active.

Downloading a Dashboard

You can download the entire Analytics dashboard as a PDF to share with colleagues or stakeholders who don't have access to Next.

  1. From the dashboard, select Download PDF.
  2. Choose your preferred format.
  3. Select which tabs to include, or choose specific visualizations to download.
  4. Select Download.

Presenting a Dashboard

The Present feature displays your Analytics dashboard full-screen, similar to a slideshow presentation. This is useful for board meetings, team reviews, or any setting where you want to walk through the data without distractions.

  1. From the Analytics dashboard, select Present.

  1. The dashboard will open in full-screen mode.
  2. Use the navigation controls to move between visualizations.
  3. Press Escape to exit.

Downloading from Within a Visualization

You can also download individual visualizations directly from your Analytics dashboard. This is useful when you only need a specific chart or the underlying data behind it.

  1. Hover over the visualization you want to download.
  2. Click the three dots to reveal download and present.

  3. Choose your format:

    • PNG: Downloads the visualization as it appears on screen (bar chart, pie chart, etc.). Best for including in presentations or documents.

    • XLSX or CSV: Downloads the underlying data as a table. Best for further analysis in Excel or similar tools.
