Overview

This step-by-step guide shows Program Admins in Next how to change an applicant's eligibility status from “Not Eligible” to “Eligible” on an Eligibility Form*.

*An Eligibility Form checks whether someone qualifies to apply to your program. For help creating a form, see ➡️ Eligibility Forms.

What is an Eligibility Override?

An eligibility override allows Program Admins to manually change an applicant's status from “Not Eligible” to “Eligible,” so they can continue with the application process.

Use an eligibility override when:

  • An applicant was incorrectly marked “Not Eligible” due to an error in how they answered the Eligibility Form.
  • You've confirmed the applicant qualifies and want to allow them to proceed.
  • A special exception has been granted for a specific applicant.

Who can override eligibility:

  • Program Owners
  • Program Managers

📌Note:  Program Staff can view the Eligibility Results page, but cannot override eligibility statuses.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Overriding does not re-send the Eligibility Form: The applicant's original responses remain on file. Overriding their status simply allows them to move forward to the Intake Form(s).

  • Overrides cannot be reversed: Once you mark an applicant as “Eligible,” you cannot reverse it, and you cannot change a status from “Eligible” to “Not Eligible.”
