Overview 

This article shows Program Admins which settings can and cannot be changed after publishing an award cycle in Next. Use it as a reference before you publish to avoid surprises. 


What Can vs. Cannot Be Changed After Publishing

Find the setting you're looking for below, organized by where it lives in the platform. 

📌Note: Most settings work the same for both award cycle types. Where a setting works differently, you'll see it marked with 🗓️ (deadline-based) or 🔄 (rolling). Not sure which cycle type you have? See ➡️ Deadline-Based vs. Rolling Cycles

Program Settings 

Program Setup

🔍 Where to find it: Open the program, then go to Program Settings > Program Setup. The Program Setup screen has expandable sections.

General 

 

Program title, type, description  ✅ Yes  
"Is this program currently active" toggle  ✅ Yes  
"Is this an invitation-only program?" toggle  ❌ No Locked after publishing

Cycle Settings 

🔍 Where to find it: Go to Program Settings > All Award Cycles, then open the award cycle. 

Cycle Settings has two levels of navigation: tabs across the top, and left-hand menus inside some tabs. Each section below matches one tab. If that tab has a left-hand menu, its menu items are listed too.


 

Cycle Info

Financials

Editable until you notify at least one recipient. After that, some settings become locked. Funds allocated to an award cannot be removed — this is true even before you publish.

Intake

*⚠️ Unpublishing to make Intake changes: Before unpublishing, review ➡️ Unpublish for important information. While unpublished, you can:

  • Change the Applicant Profile toggles
  • Edit field labels, help text, headings, rich text, and presentational text in Intake/Request Forms
  • Add fields to Intake/Request forms
  • Hide fields (you can't delete them) in Intake/Request Forms

Intake Round Settings ⚠️Can edit the deadline if you unpublish the cycle If you unpublish, you can change the Intake Round deadline date and time, but not the time zone or other round settings.
Review Round Settings 🗓️ Deadline-Based Cycle: 
Yes, before the Review Round starts (all settings can be edited, including reviewer auto-assignments).

🔄 Rolling Cycle: 
⚠️Can edit the deadline if you unpublish the cycle 

🗓️ Deadline-Based Cycle: Review Round settings are locked once the Review Round starts. If you unpublish, you can change the Review Round deadline only. 

🔄 Rolling Cycle:  If you unpublish , you can change the Review Round deadline only; other round settings cannot be changed.

Add a new Intake or Review Round Yes You can add additional Review Rounds at any time after publishing, without unpublishing the cycle.


 

Awarding

To make changes after a template is published, make a copy to edit.

💡Tip: To make changes after a Report Form is published, make a copy to edit.
