Overview 

This article shows Program Admins which settings can and cannot be changed after publishing an award cycle in Next. Use it as a reference before you publish to avoid surprises. 


What Can vs. Cannot Be Changed After Publishing

Find the setting you're looking for below, organized by where it lives in the platform. 

📌Note: Most settings work the same for both award cycle types. Where a setting works differently, you'll see it marked with 🗓️ (deadline-based) or 🔄 (rolling). Not sure which cycle type you have? See ➡️ Deadline-Based vs. Rolling Cycles

Program Settings 

Program Setup

🔍 Where to find it: Open the program, then go to Program Settings > Program Setup. The Program Setup screen has expandable sections.

General 

 

Program title, type, description  Yes  
"Is this program currently active" toggle  Yes  
"Is this an invitation-only program?" toggle  No Locked after publishing

Cycle Settings 

🔍 Where to find it: Go to Program Settings > All Award Cycles, then open the award cycle. 

Cycle Settings has two levels: tabs across the top and a left navigation menu within each tab. Each section below matches a tab, and includes left navigation menu items if the tab has them.


 

Cycle Info

Financials

Editable until you notify at least one recipient. After that, some settings become locked. Funds allocated to an award cannot be removed — this is true even before you publish.

Intake

*⚠️ Unpublishing to make Intake changes: Before unpublishing, review ➡️ Unpublish for important information. While unpublished, you can:

  • Change the Applicant Profile toggles
  • Edit field labels, help text, headings, rich text, and presentational text in Intake/Request Forms
  • Hide fields (you can't delete them) in Intake/Request Forms

✅ Yes, before the Review Round starts, all round settings can be edited, including reviewer auto-assignments Locked once the Review Round starts. To assign reviewers after that, see ➡️Assign Reviewers Manually
Review Round 
(🔄 Rolling Cycle)
⚠️Can edit the deadline if you unpublish the cycle *See unpublishing notes below

*⚠️ Unpublishing to make Workflow changes: Before unpublishing, review ➡️ Unpublish for important information.

  • Intake Round (🗓️ Deadline-Based Cycle & 🔄 Rolling Cycle): If you unpublish, you can change the Intake Round deadline date and time, but not the time zone or other round settings.
  • Review Round (🔄 Rolling Cycle): If you unpublish, you can change the Review Round deadline only; other round settings cannot be changed. To assign reviewers after publishing, see ➡️Assign Reviewers Manually.
     

Awarding

Agreement Templates Agreement Templates ⚠️Can create new templates, but can't edit published ones

To make changes after a template is published, make a copy to edit.

Tip: To make changes after a Report Form is published, make a copy to edit.
