Overview

This step-by-step guide shows Reviewers how to complete a review assignment and submit feedback in Next. 
 


Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1: Log in to the Program

1. You'll receive an email when you have new assignments to review.  

Example:


2. Click the Log In button or the full link at the bottom of the email to log in to the program. 

3. After logging in, you'll land on the Review Assignments page in the award cycle.

  • An orange pop-up message notifies you of new review assignments. Click Got it to close it.
  • In the left-hand menu, an orange number appears next to the Review Assignments tab, showing how many assignments you need to complete. 

If you're also a Program Administrator (e.g., Program Owner, Manager) using the same account, you'll see more options in the left-hand menu. 

 


Step 2: View Your Review Assignments 

  1. If you're assigned reviews for more than one award cycle, click the Cycle Selector in the left-hand menu, then click the cycle you want to review. The review assignments for that cycle will load.


     
  2. To view your assignments for an award cycle, click Review Assignments in the left-hand menu. 


     

 What's on the Review Assignments Page

  • The Review Assignments page shows all the applications you need to review for an award cycle.

Top Summary: 

  • The default view shows the following:

a. Name of the review round 

b. Feedback Due: The due date for this round. Shows a dash if the admin did not set a deadline.

c. Total number of review assignments you have, total number of feedback forms due, and  percentage (%) of reviews you've submitted (completed).

  • To view more details about each metric, click the Expand button on the far-right of the table. 

     

  • The expanded view appears. Click the Collapse button on the far-right of the table to return to the default view. 

 


Application List: 

Each application assigned to you includes:

a. Applicant ID 

b. Applicant Name

c. Feedback Results/Vote/Final Score: Summary of your submitted feedback. (The title of this column will vary depending on the type of feedback the program requires. 

d. Review Progress: The status of your review (e.g., Not Started, Opened,  Started, Submitted, Declined).

e. Assigned On: Date and time you received the assignment.
 

If the program admin set up review groups, you'll also see a "Group" column on this page that indicates which group the application has been assigned to. 

 


Search and Filter Tools: 

Use the icons in the top-right corner to organize your view.

a. Show/Hide Columns ➜ Click the triple bar icon ; uncheck any columns you want to hide.

b. Filter Applicants ➜ Click the Filter button ; enter your criteria (filter options depend on how the Program Admin set up the review round). 

c. Search Applicants ➜ Click the magnifying glass icon ; type a name or keyword to find someone quickly.



 


Step 3: Open an Application

1. In your list Review Assignments list, click the applicant's name or ID.  

  • Once open, the following information will display:

a. Back Arrow: Return to your review assignments list

b. Applicant Name 

c. Download Button: Download the full application

d. Comments Button: View comments from admins

e. Section Links: Jump to different parts of the application 

f. Application Content: See the application content

g. Next/Previous Arrows: Move to the next or previous application in your assignments list

h. Add Feedback Button: Open the feedback form for this applicant
 


Step 4: Add Feedback 

1. Click Add Feedback in the upper-right corner of the application to start the feedback process. A panel opens next to the application. 


2. What you see next depends on the settings the admin chose for the review round: 

A. If you do NOT see a conflict of interest question: The feedback form loads directly. Skip ahead to Complete & Submit Feedback below.

B. If you see a conflict of interest question (screenshot below): Follow the steps in the next section, Respond to Conflict of Interest Question

 


Respond to Conflict of Interest Question (if applicable)

If you DON'T have a conflict: Select "I have no conflict of interest and can review this application," then click Next to move on to the form. See Complete & Submit Feedback below.


If you DO have a conflict, follow these steps:

a. Select "I have a conflict of interest and will not be able to review this application."

b. Add a brief comment explaining the conflict of interest. (The admin will be able to see your comment)

If a comment is required, there will be a red asterisk (*) at the beginning of the prompt, and you must complete it before you can continue; if not, you'll see the word "Optional" in parentheses and can continue with or without adding a note. 

c. Click Next.

 

d. In the Confirm Removal pop-up, click Remove. 

Once you click Remove, your response is final and cannot be changed. 


 

  • What happens after declaring a conflict of interest? 
     
    • The application is removed from your assignments - it will still be visible in the Review Assignments screen. You'll see the following changes: 

a. The summary metrics at the top of the Review Assignments page update to reflect the change.

b. The status of the assignment changes to "Declined."


c. The feedback panel will be locked from edits. (Note: You can open the feedback to see a read-only view of your conflict of interest response). 

 


Complete & Submit Feedback 

The fields you see in the feedback form panel depend on how the admins set up the review round; it may be a voting, scoring, or custom feedback form. 

The panel will appear side‑by‑side with the application, including any uploaded attachments

  1. Complete the prompts in the feedback form. 
     
  2. If you're not ready to submit, click Save as Draft in the bottom-left corner of the panel. A confirmation message appears in the bottom-left of the screen confirming your changes were saved. You can return at any point to submit your feedback.

    •  To return to your draft: Click Edit Feedback within the application.



       

  3. Once finished with your feedback, click Submit in the bottom-right corner of the feedback panel.


     
  4. In the confirmation pop-up, click Submit. 
  • A confirmation message appears in the bottom-left confirming your feedback has been saved.


After Submitting Feedback

View Submitted Feedback for a Single Application

  1. In the application, click View Feedback in the upper-right corner. 

  • Your feedback panel opens as read-only. 


     

Edit Submitted Feedback (if enabled)

Whether you can edit feedback after submitting it depends on how the Program Admin set up the review round. If editing is allowed, you'll see a blue Edit link at the top of the panel. If it's not allowed, no edit link appears, and your submitted feedback is final.

  • To edit your feedback: 
     
    1. Click Edit.


       
    2. In the pop-up, click Submit. 


       
    3. Edit your feedback form, then click Submit in the bottom-right corner of the panel.


       
    4. In the confirmation pop-up, click Submit to re-submit your form. 


       

Check Progress on All Review Assignments

Your Review Assignments list updates in real time as you complete each review. 

  • The Review Progress column changes to "Submitted" for each completed assignment, and the summary at the top of the page reflects your current completion percentage.


     


Complete Remaining Reviews

  •  Repeat the steps above for any remaining assignments.
