Overview

This article shows Program Admins how to publish more than one award cycle in a program at the same time in Next. 

⚠ Parallel cycles must be enabled for your organization. If you would like this feature enabled, please contact Customer Success.

What Does it Mean to Run Cycles at the Same Time? 

Running cycles at the same time means you can publish a new award cycle while another cycle in the same program is active. Each active cycle runs independently, with its own intake, review, and awarding process.

  • Who can publish an award cycle?
    • Organization Owners 
    • Client Admins (in partner-managed accounts) 
    • Program Owners
    • Program Managers

Each active cycle has its own Funds, Awards, and Budget Expense Categories. These settings are set up separately for every cycle, even within the same program. A change you make in one cycle does not affect any other active cycle. 

How to Publish an Award Cycle While Another is Active

What Happens After Publishing Another Cycle

The cycle status will appear as “Active Workflow” on the Award Cycles page in the program. If you have other published cycles that are active, they will show the same status.  It will be visible to the public on the Opportunities page (see below for the applicant view). 

 

What Applicants See

Each published cycle appears as its own opportunity on your program's Opportunities page. Applicants see the program name, cycle name with the submission deadline, award type (e.g., Variable Award, Non-Monetary) and Preview/Apply buttons.

Only cycles that are published and open for intake appear on the Opportunities page.


➜ When an applicant clicks: 

  • Apply : The application (intake form) for that specific cycle opens. The submitted application goes to that cycle only
  • Preview: Only that cycle's opportunity details (name, deadline, award info, forms) appear.

What Reviewers and Approvers See

Reviewers and Approvers can still access all their review and approval work, even when more than one cycle is active. In their account, they can use the Cycle Selector to switch between cycles and see each one's review or approval queue.

Starting a new cycle doesn't interrupt or change review/approval work already in progress on another cycle.
