This quick guide explains the different Goal Types available for the Goals section in Intake Forms.
Goal Types
Narrative Goal
- Definition: A goal that describes an outcome in words.
- Purpose: Use this when you want applicants to describe an outcome, experience, or impact that can’t be measured with a number.

Examples:
- Describe how the program improved community access to services.
- Explain barriers encountered during implementation.
Numeric Goal
- Definition: A goal measured with a specific number.
- Purpose: Use this to track measurable outputs or outcomes.

Examples:
- Number of participants served
- Number of trainings delivered
- Dollars spent
Percent Achieved Goal
- Definition: A goal that measures progress toward a target, shown as a percentage.
- Purpose: Use this to track progress toward a specific endpoint.
- Formula: Percent Achieved=(ActualTarget)×100

Examples:
- 75% of planned housing units completed
- 90% of budget expended
Percent Changed Goal
- Definition: A goal that measures the percentage increase or decrease from a starting value (baseline).
- Purpose: Use this to track growth or reduction over time.
- Formula: Percent Change=(Current Value−Baseline ValueBaseline Value)×100

- 20% reduction in recidivism
- 15% increase in enrollment
Reimbursement Goal
- Definition: A goal that tracks how much funding an applicant expects to request from an awarded budget.

Purpose: Use this to understand an applicant’s planned spending to make sure their expected reimbursement requests align with approved funding limits and performance expectations.
