Overview

This step-by-step guide shows applicants how to rename an application in Next.

What is an Application Name?

If a program lets you submit more than one application for an opportunity, you’ll be prompted to create a name/nickname for the application before you begin.

The application name you create shows up in italics underneath the application title in the Applications tab of your portal, and at the top of the application itself when you’re viewing it.

📌Good to Know:

  • If you're an organization applicant, both the lead applicant and any collaborators can rename the application.
  • You can rename your application until you accept your award agreement. After that, the rename option will no longer appear.

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to your portal and click Applications in the top menu.

  2. Click View on the far-right of the application to open it.

  3. Click the dropdown arrow next to the application title at the top of the page, then select Rename Application.

  4. In the pop-up, enter a new name in the New Application Name field, then click Save.

📌  Note: If you enter a name you've already used in a different application for the same opportunity, you'll see an error message. Try a different name and save again.

  5. A confirmation message appears in the bottom-left corner of the screen: “Application renamed.”

  6. Refresh the page to see the updated name at the top.
