Overview
This article will walk through the basic elements of building a form in a program cycle in Next.
In the example below, an Intake Form is shown, but the process of building a form in other areas of the workflow is the same.
Build a Form
To build a form, form fields are added to it and configured. However, before form fields can be added, the form must be created. Please see the article about how to Add a Form for more information.
To build a newly created form or an existing form, select the appropriate section to access the form within a program’s settings.
- For this example, select Intake Forms.
- On the list of Intake Forms, select the Open button of the form being built to edit the form.
- If it is a new form and the first time it is opened, go to step 4 below. If it is an existing form, go to step 7 below.
- The structure of the new form needs to be determined before continuing. Select whether the form will be divided into sections. (The structure can be changed later; see the Change Form Structure article for more information.)
- Select the Confirm button.
- A help message will appear describing how to change the form if the structure needs to be changed at a later time. Select the Got It button to close the message.
- To start building the form with form fields, select either of the +Add Fields links on the page.
- The Add Fields tray will slide open from the right side of the screen. From this tray, the form fields can be added; add all the necessary form fields to complete the build of the form.
Please see the Add a Form Field article and Configure Form Fields for information about how to add form fields as well as details about each form field and how they can be configured.
Notice that while a form is being built, changes are automatically saved and noted at the top of the screen.
